Väderstad Spirit Seed Drill

The Väderstad Spirit is a high-capacity seed drill for simultaneous seed and fertiliser application, available in working widths from approximately 4 m to 9 m.

A large 5000 L hopper with a wide opening reduces refill frequency, while high-capacity seed and fertiliser metering systems ensure consistent application.

Designed to complete multiple operations in a single pass, the Spirit performs levelling, seedbed preparation, reconsolidation, seeding and pressing with high precision, even at fast working speeds. Individual row depth control ensures accurate seed placement at the desired depth, delivering uniform emergence across the entire field.

TriForce II® seed coulter suspension

The TriForce II® seed coulter suspension delivers high precision by maintaining consistent coulter pressure across uneven terrain. Its unique design allows the coulter to keep the set pressure even when moving over field irregularities. This results in more consistent seed depth, improving germination and ensuring uniform crop emergence.

With up to 120 kg of coulter pressure, TriForce II® offers an extended operating range. It performs effectively in light to medium soil conditions while maintaining seeding accuracy.

Each coulter maintains its pressure even when the arm moves up or down with ground contours. The result is uniform seed placement, consistent crop development, and improved yield potential.

Adapts to the field

Correct seed depth is critical for timely emergence and strong crop establishment. On the Spirit 400-900C, every part of the seed coulter system is designed to deliver precise and consistent seed placement.

Each coulter is mounted on its own arm, allowing it to react independently to uneven ground. This ensures consistent working depth across the full working width.

Coulter pressure can be adjusted from the cab while working to match changing soil conditions. The wide press wheel maintains good soil contact and reduces the need for frequent adjustments.

Active coulter pressure automatically adapts on hilly terrain, ensuring accurate seed placement on both crests and troughs.

Three fertilising methods

Placing fertiliser during drilling ensures fast, reliable nutrient uptake, reduces dependence on rainfall, and improves yields. The Spirit 400-900C combi-version offers three fertilising methods: FIX, Nordic, and InLine.

FIX places fertiliser in 5 cm strips at 125 mm row spacing in front of every seed row, with depth adjustable from the cab. Available in 4, 6, 8, and 9 m widths.

Nordic uses aggressive disc coulters to place fertiliser between seed rows at 250 mm spacing, ideal for conventional tillage in dry conditions. Also available in 4, 6, 8, and 9 m widths.

InLine delivers fertiliser together with the seed for quick uptake, with separate transport ensuring high accuracy. Available on 4 and 6 m Spirit 400-600C.

Full-scale seedbed preparation

Spirit 400-900C is equipped with powerful front tools that can be adjusted from the cab while working. For additional levelling, an individually adjustable CrossBoard can be mounted ahead of the disc tool, ensuring a well-prepared seedbed tailored to field conditions. To ensure a firm seedbed before seed placement, large packer wheels consolidate the soil between the front tool and the seed coulters. This provides significant advantages in lighter soils, as well as in fields where the soil is loose due to deep cultivation or insufficient reconsolidation.

Zone 1 - Seedbed preparation

The Spirit 400-900C adapts to different farming needs with front tools for fertiliser placement, all with cab-adjustable working depth.

FIX places fertiliser in 5 cm strips at 125 mm row spacing in front of each seed row and can be combined with or without a CrossBoard Heavy.

Nordic uses aggressive disc coulters to place fertiliser between seed rows at 250 mm spacing, ideal for conventional tillage in dry conditions.

Front tools include track eradicators for deep tire marks, CrossBoard Heavy for clod crushing and field levelling, System Disc Aggressive for min-till, and the combined CrossBoard Heavy System Disc Aggressive for intensive soil mixing in tough conditions.

Zone 2 - Consolidation

To ensure a firm seedbed prior to seed placement, large packer wheels consolidates the soil between the front tool and seed coulters. This offers great advantages in lighter soil, as well as in fields where the soil is loose as an effect of a deep cultivation or a cultivation with insufficient reconsolidation.

Zone 3 - Seed placement

Spirit has 380mm large discs for high speed accuracy. The OffSet discs move the soil to the side and place the seed in the bottom of the seed furrow. The soil falls back behind the discs and covers the seed with fine soil. The seed coulter pressure is up to 120kg to ensure a good penetration. The unique TriForce II® rubber suspension gives a supreme ability to follow ground contour.

Zone 4 - Reconsolidation

Each individual seed coulter has a wide coulter press wheel. This allows the seed coulters to respond to any irregularities or soil variations on the field, thereby ensuring the working depth is constantly maintained. The generous diameter of the coulter press wheel, further results in a smooth ride with minimal impacts from vibrations, thereby increasing precision at high speed.

Zone 5 - Finishing

The following harrow runs between seed rows, avoiding disturbance of shallow-drilled seeds. It creates a loose surface layer that preserves moisture and prevents capping after heavy rain.

The harrow also finishes the seedbed by moving larger aggregates to the surface while keeping fine soil in the seed zone.

The Following Harrow Heavy features hydraulic pressure adjustment on the go, with the option for higher preset pressure on headlands.

It is also available as the Following Harrow Marathon, providing the same benefits of precise seedbed finishing, moisture preservation, and improved conditions for germination across varying soil types.
